Many who come to the NAGA Convention each year know how to raise birds and how to provide quality hunting experiences. But too often it’s the general business practices that can make a difference between profitability and hitting legal potholes that can cost a business a lot of money. The NAGA Convention in Laughlin, Nevada, February 1-3, features expert speakers on the businesses end of the gamebird business.

Attendees at the Monday afternoon session will learn “Accounting Basics for Those who Outsource or do it In-House” from James Heilman with the accounting firm CLA (CliftonLarsonAllen LLP). “As business owners, one of the key challenges is complying with government tax law, while also taking advantage of incentives for businesses that state and federal taxing authorities provide,” explained NAGA Executive Director Rob Sexton. “Many who may have done things a certain way may learn how to save money and more important, how to stay off the radar of the IRS.”

The following day during the Tuesday morning session, Greg Wilken with Endunamo Consulting will present “Essential HR for Small Businesses: What You Don’t Know Could Hurt You.” Employment law is complex and continually changing. Small businesses too often end up spending enormous sums of money on legal fees and settlements for H.R. issues. These risks can be diminished by a business that understands how human resources laws really work.

It's not too late to register for the NAGA Convention. Registration, lodging and agenda information can be found at northamericangamebird.com on the “2025 NAGA Convention” tab.
