To Do List: Register for NAGA Convention and Send in Gamebird Value Survey

Things can creep up on you during the holidays, and two critical items are fast approaching in the gamebird world....

NAGA Convention Registration

The annual NAGA Convention is now just seven weeks away. The event takes place January 22-24, 2024, at the Holiday Inn Disney Springs, and packs a high-quality agenda and a location that’s right on the doorstep of America’s top tourist destination – Walt Disney World.

“I think the earlier date has a lot of folks thinking they still have time to register,” explained Rob Sexton, NAGA Executive Director. “But people need to know that competition for hotel rooms can be fierce at the hotels surrounding Disney World, so it’s important to register and book your rooms right away!”

Gamebird Value Survey

More pressing is the annual gamebird value survey, conducted by NAGA each year. The organization utilizes the average values of eggs, chicks and mature birds to create an indemnity value chart for pheasants, chukars, quail, Hungarian partridge and French red-legged partridge. The U.S. Department of Agriculture will factor NAGA’s research into its indemnity valuations for 2024.

“We’ve sent three emails so far to producers who are NAGA members,” said Sexton. “If you haven’t responded yet, it’s essential that you do so quickly. It’s just a no brainer for anyone who wants to get fair market value for their birds in the event they have an avian influenza outbreak on their farm.”
