In June 2024, New York-based Ten Mile River Preserve (TMRP) hosted the inaugural benefit fundraiser for the North American Gamebird Association (NAGA). The event garnered widespread praise for its exceptional attendance and financial success, setting a new benchmark for future fundraisers in the gamebird industry. While these achievements are commendable, an even greater accomplishment has emerged from the vision of the event’s organizer: to inspire similar events at other hunting clubs across the nation. Thanks to the determined efforts of TMRP’s Tyler Mathers, this dream is becoming a reality.
The baton has been passed to the Hudson Farm Club, located in Andover, New Jersey, for 2025. Since its establishment in 1997, the Hudson Farm Club has been a premier destination for outdoor enthusiasts, offering a year-round private outdoor experience. With its 4,200 acres of meticulously maintained farmland, ponds and lakes, the club boasts one of the most attractive and challenging shooting layouts in the United States. Beyond its recreational appeal, the Hudson Farm Club is a champion of conservation and community service. Through its Hudson Farm Foundation, the club provides annual support to local charities, reinforcing its commitment to making a positive impact beyond its gates.
The Hudson Farm Club has been an active supporter of NAGA’s initiatives. Not only did the club send a shooting team to the TMRP fundraiser, but it also participated as a financial sponsor. In 2023, the Hudson Farm Foundation elevated its partnership with NAGA by becoming a Diamond Sponsor—a significant milestone that underscored the club’s dedication to the gamebird industry. Reflecting on this decision, John Wunderlich, Operations Manager of the Hudson Farm Club, remarked, “We’ve been closely observing the meaningful work NAGA is doing for our industry. Partnering with them felt like a natural extension of our values and commitment.”
Joining Wunderlich in managing the Hudson Farm Club is Steve Polanish, a key figure in the club’s operations. Together, they have been instrumental in fostering a culture of excellence, conservation, and community engagement. Polanish emphasized the importance of collaboration in the industry, noting, “Events like these fundraisers bring people together for a shared purpose. It’s about strengthening bonds within the gamebird community while also giving back in a meaningful way.”
Building on its history of support, the Hudson Farm Club is now preparing to host the second annual summer shooting fundraiser for NAGA. Scheduled for June 29, 2025, the event promises to carry forward the momentum established at the TMRP shoot while adding its unique touch. With its expansive grounds and unparalleled facilities, the Hudson Farm Club is poised to deliver an unforgettable experience for attendees.
NAGA President Mike Martz expressed his gratitude and enthusiasm for the upcoming event. “We’re so honored and thrilled about this development,” Martz said. “To have the Hudson Farm Club step up to host this event is such a huge help to NAGA and, more importantly, the gamebird industry. I’m sure we’ll have other members of the NAGA Board and staff come to help and enjoy the day on June 29. We sure do appreciate the club and the Hudson Farm Foundation for their support.”
The event at Hudson Farm Club will offer something for everyone—participants, sponsors and spectators alike. In addition to competitive shooting opportunities, the fundraiser will feature a variety of activities designed to engage and entertain attendees of all ages. From educational demonstrations on conservation practices to opportunities for networking with industry leaders, the event aims to create a holistic experience that underscores the importance of community in the gamebird sector.
For shooting enthusiasts, the club’s challenging layout will be a highlight. The meticulously designed courses at Hudson Farm Club are renowned for their ability to test skill levels while offering an enjoyable experience for all participants. “Our goal is to create an environment where everyone, from seasoned marksmen to newcomers, feels welcome and challenged,” said Polanish.
The proceeds from the fundraiser will go directly to supporting NAGA’s mission of promoting the gamebird industry and advocating for sustainable practices. The funds will enable the organization to continue its work in legislative advocacy, education, and conservation efforts that benefit gamebird enthusiasts and industry professionals nationwide.
As the date approaches, NAGA will work closely with the Hudson Farm Club to ensure the event’s success. This partnership reflects the shared values of both organizations and their commitment to advancing the gamebird industry. Details about registration and sponsorship opportunities will be announced in the coming months, giving interested parties plenty of time to plan their participation.
Looking back at the 2024 fundraiser, it’s clear that these events are more than just gatherings; they are catalysts for change and innovation. The collaboration between TMRP and NAGA set a powerful example, and the Hudson Farm Club is ready to build on that legacy. By stepping up as the host for 2025, the club is not only supporting a vital cause but also inspiring other organizations to follow suit.
In the words of Wunderlich, “This is about more than just a single day. It’s about building a future where the gamebird industry thrives, where conservation efforts are prioritized, and where community ties are strengthened.” His sentiments are echoed by Polanish, who added, “We’re excited to welcome everyone to Hudson Farm Club and showcase what makes our club and this industry so special.”
As the North American Gamebird Association looks ahead to June 29, 2025, there is much to anticipate. The partnership with Hudson Farm Club marks a new chapter in the organization’s history, one defined by collaboration, growth and shared purpose. For those passionate about gamebirds, conservation and the outdoors, the summer fundraiser at Hudson Farm Club promises to be an event not to be missed.
