Trade associations work best when the members are engaged. Members of the North American Gamebird Association have many opportunities to be involved. They can attend our annual Convention and Hunting Club Conference. They can volunteer to serve on our many committees, which do the lion’s share of work for the industry.
But perhaps most importantly, members help choose our organization’s leadership. The NAGA Board of Directors sets policy for the organization. It’s responsible for our finances and the events we hold each year. The Board also chooses the officers and staff of the organization. NAGA’s board members serve on a completely volunteer basis, receiving no financial compensation for the many hours they contribute.
NAGA’s 12 board members are elected on staggered terms, with 1/3 elected each year, and each board member serving a three-year term, beginning in January 2024 and ending in January 2027. This year four board seats were available. Ballots were mailed with the September issue of NAGA News and had to be postmarked no later than October 15, 2023. Results have now been finalized. NAGA members have chosen the following four candidates:
Sam Ballou of Bucyrus, Ohio’s Elkhorn Farms & Hatchery and Elkhorn Lake Hunt Club. Sam’s a former president of NAGA. He serves on the Audit and Health committees and on the subcommittees on Depopulation Methods and NPIP Lines of Separation. Sam’s also a Diamond Sponsor of NAGA, and Elkhorn sponsors both our Convention and the Hunting Club Conference.
Dan Barngrover of Longtail Farms in Baxter Springs, Kansas. Dan serves on the Auction, Membership and Nominating committees, and has recently been appointed chairman of the 2024 Hunting Club Conference Committee. Longtail Farms is a NAGA Sponsor Member.
Michele Bovey of Grangeville, Idaho’s Flying B Ranch. Michele is the chairwoman of the Audit Committee. She also serves on the Auction and Hunting Club Conference committees. Flying B Ranch is a Sponsor Member of NAGA, and a sponsor of the Hunting Club Conference.
Rick Kuhl, Jr. of the Kuhl Corporation in Flemington, New Jersey. Rick is chairman of the Auction Committee and also serves on the Exhibits and Membership committees. The Kuhl Corporation is a Diamond Sponsor of NAGA and a sponsor of the Convention.
“We greatly appreciate those who ran for our Board of Directors,” said NAGA President Peg Ballou. “Their willingness to give their time, over and above their own businesses, is what makes this association so helpful to this industry.”
