Hunting preserves face a combination of political threats that are unique in both the hunting and agriculture world. The animal rights lobby impacts hunting clubs on two fronts. First from the agricultural side, with their opposition to any livestock farming, including raised-for-release poultry. And second, from their opposition to any hunting at all. On top of that, the gun control lobby works to limit access to both firearms and ammunition. Finally, attacks at the local level pose an even different type of threat.

The North American Gamebird Association meets these challenges through a series of collaborations. A featured speaker at the NAGA Hunting Club Conference will reveal these threats and what can be done to defeat them. The Hunting Club Conference will be held at the Best Western Ramkota in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, July 15-17.

Dr. Todd Adkins is Vice President of Government Affairs for the Sportsmen’s Alliance, a key partner in the fight to protect hunting preserves. Todd is the nation’s foremost expert on these battles and leads the organization’s team of legislative, campaign and litigation specialists that swing into action when attacks occur. Previously Dr. Adkins led State and Local Affairs for the National Rifle Association, where he was instrumental in key Second Amendment victories for the gun rights organization.

“We’re thrilled to have Dr. Adkins join us in Sioux Falls,” said NAGA President Mike Martz. “While we spend a lot of time talking about the best business practices, we can’t ever forget that our hunting and shooting freedoms and businesses are under attack and require defending. Todd leads this critical defense on behalf of our partners, the Sportsmen’s Alliance.”

This is just one of the important presentations attendees will receive in Sioux Falls.
