Join three experienced gamebird producers Feb. 1 as they share practical approaches to strengthening farm biosecurity....
With the annual fall waterfowl migration in full swing, the risks of avian influenza are on the minds of many gamebird producers. As this ongoing concern enters its fifth year, diligent farms continue to examine and update their protocols to reduce risks.
The 2027 NAGA Convention, Feb. 1-3 in San Antonio, Texas, will feature three producers who regularly go beyond basic biosecurity practices to protect their farms.
John Metzer of Metzer Farms in California, Tony Smith of MTM Pheasants in Nebraska and Tim Zindl of Oak Ridge Pheasant Ranch in Wisconsin will participate in a panel discussion exploring how producers can take biosecurity measures beyond minimum requirements.
"Although this is not an enjoyable topic, we're excited to have three producers with extensive experience in three different regions of the country share their experiences," said NAGA President Sarah Pope. "This is a great panel featuring two former NAGA presidents and two current members of the Board of Directors. I know we will learn a lot!"
The presentation is scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 1, during the convention's opening-day session sponsored by CLA.
The panel is one of 15 presentations covering a wide range of industry topics at the Plaza San Antonio Hotel & Spa during the annual convention, sponsored by NSSF — The Firearm Industry Trade Association.
