Artificial Intelligence: The Other AI That Is Essential for Businesses

Over the last eight years, the initials AI have hovered over poultry businesses like a black cloud. Something to fear. Something that requires investment. Something that demands interaction with government agencies at the local, state and federal levels. But there is another AI that has captured far more attention across industries far beyond agriculture.

Artificial intelligence often seems more like science fiction than a practical part of everyday life, but businesses across nearly every sector are discovering that it can save both time and money. Fast food restaurants, for example, have begun taking drive-through orders using artificial intelligence systems.

But does artificial intelligence have a place in the gamebird industry? The answer is yes, particularly for businesses that market, take orders, sell, deliver and invoice customers. Artificial intelligence can also reduce labor time associated with common agricultural practices.

The 2026 NAGA Convention, scheduled for February 2–4 at the Hyatt House and Hyatt Place in historic Charleston, will feature two speakers with different areas of expertise in this emerging technology. First, Cody Laudenslager of Pennsylvania’s Mahantongo Game Farms will showcase a new bird-counting system that utilizes artificial intelligence, demonstrating the direct benefits AI can provide to gamebird operations.

Following that presentation, attendees will hear from the Murray Road Agency, an award-winning public relations firm, which will lead a session on how artificial intelligence can benefit multiple aspects of a business.

“Like most people, the idea of AI is intimidating to me,” said NAGA President Mike Martz. “But no business can survive by ignoring cutting-edge technology for long, and that includes the gamebird industry. I believe all of us can benefit from this initial crash course.”

These two presentations, along with several other vital sessions, are features of the 2026 NAGA Convention. Registration, hotel, sponsor and vendor information can be found at NorthAmericanGamebird.com/tickets/convention-registration.
