Application Deadlines Approaching for North American Gamebird Foundation Scholarships

The North American Gamebird Foundation (NAGF) is offering two scholarship opportunities in 2019: The John Mullin Memorial Scholarship and the Jeannine Kuhl Memorial Scholarship, both supporting career opportunities in the gamebird industry. Application deadlines for both are quickly approaching! John Mullin Memorial Scholarship The John Mullin Memorial Scholarship offers as many as five, $1,000 post-high school scholarships in the name of the late John Mullin. Any North American Gamebird Association (NAGA) member or child/grandchild of a NAGA member is eligible to apply. Applicants are asked to submit the following information:
  1. Completed application.
  2. One-page bio/essay explaining the applicant's interests in gamebird production, hunting preserve or other shooting sports operations, along with their career interests and goals.
  3. If in high school, a transcript of their grades.
  4. If in high school and accepted to a college or university, a copy of the letter of acceptance.
  5. If in college, a transcript of their grades.
  6. Verification of SAT or ACT scores.
The deadline for the John Mullin scholarship application is August 15th. Applications submitted by August 15th will be reviewed by the NAGF Scholarship Committee. Jeannine Kuhl Memorial Scholarship The Jeannine Kuhl Memorial Scholarship is a one-time, $2,500 scholarship, awarded in increments over two years, in honor of the late Jeannine Kuhl, whose work with Kuhl Corporation has been an essential part of the gamebird industry. Funding for the scholarship is through private sponsorship by Elkhorn Farms & Hatchery, administered through the NAGF. The purpose of this scholarship is to increase awareness of, and support career opportunities in, the gamebird industry, defined as the raising of pheasants, chukar, quail, Hungarian partridge and other upland gamebirds. It may also include strongly related fields like recreational upland gamebird hunting clubs, veterinary science or research programs for gamebirds. While membership in the NAGA is not required, preference will be granted to those showing an interest in the trade association of the gamebird industry. Applicants are asked to submit the following information:
  1. Completed application.
  2. A document showing grade point average with a current high school or college transcript.
  3. If not currently enrolled in a college-level academic institution, include a copy of the acceptance letter from your educational institution of choice.
  4. Recommendation letters from at least two, and not more than five, non-family members from the community, education and work areas of your life.
  5. A 500-word essay on your past involvement in the gamebird industry, future goals and plans and the relatedness of your chosen academic field to the gamebird industry.
  6. A list and description of academic and/or non-academic awards and achievements, extracurricular activities and interests.
  7. Demonstrate financial need with a description of courses, total costs expected and attempts to meet this need in the past, including any other scholarships or grants, loans, etc. expected.
The deadline for the Jeannine Kuhl Memorial Scholarship is August 1st. Click here to know the Differences Between FHA and Conventional Loans The staff of Elkhorn Farms & Hatchery will narrow the field of applicants to 10, based on the criteria listed in the application form. The Scholarship Committee of the NAGF will select the awardee. Continuous enrollment in an acceptable program must be maintained, or graduation status attained to be eligible for this award. The award will be paid directly to the academic institution on behalf of the awardee.
