Work on the national convention of gamebird hunting preserves each year begins at the close of the previous year's events with a session where attendees offer feedback on all aspects of the conference, including the location, hotel, catering, format and of course the agenda, all to make 2025’s NAGA Hunting Club Conference sponsored by NSSF-The Firearm Industry Trade Association, an even greater success.

Using this feedback as a guidepost, the Hunting Club Conference Committee, chaired by Longtail Farms owner and NAGA board member Dan Barngrover, gets right to work evaluating the post-event surveys and soliciting topic ideas from past attendees. The topic ideas are then organized into a ballot that’s sent to committee members to rank their preferences.

NAGA staff and volunteers, led by NAGA 1st Vice President Sarah Pope of Wisconsin's MacFarlane Pheasants Inc., recruit feature speakers and experts in their respective fields to present at the event. Today, the organization unveiled the jam-packed agenda for the conference, which kicks off July 21 at the Horseshoe Hotel & Casino in Tunica, Mississippi.

“The committee and our volunteers have outdone themselves for this year’s event!” exclaimed Barngrover. “We’re learning the latest business criteria for making key decisions such as offering sporting clays, European shoots and even whether to offer quail.”

“It doesn’t stop there,” added Pope. “We’ll hear firsthand from experts who deal with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) about the decision to carry and offer guns and from retail experts about best business practices to ensure profitability for pro shops.”

The conference will pivot to customer service, with nationally renowned hospitality experts presenting on customer satisfaction, which increases retention, and a guide quality seminar, which addresses the key relationship that makes the key customer connection that keeps hunters coming back.

The agenda will feature experts on young customers and outward-facing public relations that sell the business and manage crises when they occur.

Biosecurity experts will explain how to use split premises as a strategy to ensure business continuity during outbreaks in the vicinity of a hunting business. Included in the biosecurity aspects of the conference, attendees will learn best practices for staff training to prepare for an avian influenza outbreak. The biosecurity portion of the conference will conclude by discussing strategies to ensure business continuity throughout.

“For someone looking for a conference full of red meat that will make a difference to the bottom line, the 4th Annual Hunting Club Conference in Tunica, Mississippi, won’t disappoint!” committed Barngrover. “And we’re still going to find time to network, get to know each other better, and have a little fun. Now is the time to register!”
